Arjun was cleaning his late mother's cupboard when he discovered an old suitcase hidden beneath a pile of blankets. Inside lay photographs, a silver watch, and a sealed envelope addressed to his mother in his father's handwriting.
His father had died ten years earlier, leaving behind countless unanswered questions. With trembling hands, Arjun opened the letter.
It explained that his father had once planned to take the family to another city for a better life. However, a serious accident had left him unable to work, and he had hidden his struggles because he didn't want his family to worry. He had written the letter hoping to explain everything when things improved.
At the bottom was an address and the name of an old friend who had helped him.
The following weekend, Arjun visited the address. An elderly man answered the door and immediately recognized the handwriting on the envelope. He revealed that Arjun's father had spent his final months saving money for his son's education.
Arjun returned home with tears in his eyes. His father had never been able to explain his sacrifices, but the letter finally helped him understand them.
He placed it beside his father's photograph.
Some letters arrive late, he realized, but love never loses its meaning.
